As December was our "Month of Giving" I was continually overwhelmed and surprised by your generosity! I know being surprised by your generosity doesn't sound like a compliment, so let me explain.
Yesterday (Sunday, December 29) was that Sunday that falls between Christmas and the first Sunday of 2020. It's generally a Sunday of low attendance as many families and couples are often still out of town for the holidays. Yesterday held true to that generalization.
So, I thought to myself, "Well, this will probably be the Sunday where our Month of Giving drastically drops off." But it didn't. Attendance may have been low, but our giving was high. Yesterday's giving went head to head with the two previous Sundays of higher attendance!
That's why I wanted to take a moment and just thank you all for your generosity. Some of you have given large sums (ranging from $2000 to $400) and some of you have given over and above what you normally give (ranging from $200 to $80 and everything between), but all of it has made an impact. If we keep this pace of giving we will reach our goal of having three months of expenses in our reserve fund.
And you know what that says to me? God has plans for us. Big plans or small, God has a plan for us to fulfill together.
Giving teaches us something important which is that we can only do this together. There is a practical reality to God's kingdom on this earth and that is simply that all plans have to be funded.
So, thank you for your participation in the gospel.
Let's keep the pace and wait for the Sunday (which will be soon at this pace) where I can announce that we have reached our goal and the supply will overflow in many thanksgivings to God. (2 Cor. 9:12)
Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift! (2 Cor. 9:15)
